First up was the Upper Esopus Fire Tower. Located conveniently next to the Catskills Visitor Center, this one's all about getting your hiking feet wet without breaking a sweat. Being only a short distance away from the parking lot, it’s accessible to everyone but you can also rack up a couple miles on nearby trails that take you along the Esopus Creek and up the hill behind the visitor center. Ideal for those who savor the destination more than the journey, and for avid hikers, consider it a warmup for the harder and more scenic fire tower hikes.
