Our Story

Hi! We're Brian and Therese – wanderlust seekers with a passion for travel, exploration, the outdoors, and also the proud owners of this adventure and travel gear hub.

Together, we've been to over 30 countries, trading passport stamps for a kaleidoscope of memories. From our first trip together in Costa Rica in 2007 to year-long excursions in both Asia and South America, we've encountered and embraced a multitude of experiences. From hiking the stunning landscapes of Patagonia to scuba diving with hammerheads in the Galapagos, marveling at the ancient wonders of Egypt, Machu Picchu, and Angkor Wat, venturing on African safaris, and celebrating Holi in India and Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, we've been incredibly fortunate to be able to see so much of our magnificent world. Yet, amid the excitement of discovery, we found ourselves longing for the perfect gear that could match our restless footsteps.

Eventually, our longing turned into frustration that fueled our innovation and thus, Deep Ascent was born. The name Deep Ascent isn't just a catchy title; it's a reflection of our love for the enchanting convergence of oceans and mountains. For us, "Deep" symbolizes the boundless expanse of water, while "Ascent" signifies the heights of mountainous terrain. Together, they encapsulate the essence of the journeys we crave.

At the heart of our mission was a desire to enhance the packable backpack. With our love of travel, hiking, and all other types of pursuits, a packable backpack is an essential piece of gear for us, but finding one that could seamlessly transition from city exploration to mountain trails proved to be a challenge.

We tested various packable backpacks on our trips, each leaving us wanting more. The issues were clear: not durable or spacious enough, lack of organizational compartments, not hydration compatible, side pockets that couldn’t fit larger bottles, no hiking-specific features, minimal water resistance, or not eco-friendly.

Rather than settle for less, we rolled up our sleeves and decided to craft the perfect packable backpack ourselves. And so, our flagship product was born – the Ancash Packable Daypack, a packable backpack that's not just a travel companion but a reliable partner for all your adventures.
